Prerequisites

You don't need every box ticked — but the more of these you're comfortable with, the faster you'll ramp up.

Wi-Fi fundamentals

Bands, channels, MCS rates, beaconing, association/auth, scanning.

802.11 protocol literacy

Comfortable reading 802.11 frame formats and understanding QoS, OFDMA, MU-MIMO basics.

TCP/IP & networking

DHCP, DNS, NAT, routing, throughput vs. latency, why packet loss matters.

Linux + Python

Confidence in a Linux shell and Python scripting. Bonus for Wireshark, iperf, tcpdump.

Nice to have

  • Hands-on with Wireshark capture & filters
  • Wi-Fi certifications or coursework (CWNA, CWAP, networking labs)
