Product Overview

8-channel programmable RF attenuator — 50 MHz to 8 GHz, 0.25 dB steps

8-channel software-controlled RF attenuator (50 MHz – 8 GHz).

The CT-718 is an 8-channel programmable RF attenuator designed for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and cellular test setups that need fine-grained, fully automated path-loss control. Each of the eight channels covers 50 MHz – 8 GHz with 0 – 95 dB attenuation in 0.25 dB increments. Ports are split across both sides of the chassis — handy when mounting on the side of an RF chamber stack, where one set of cables runs inside the chamber and the other runs out. Controlled over USB-Serial or Ethernet (PoE supported). The included LANforge software suite supports both manual configuration and automated scripting against the full attenuator API.

/// Software Features

Control & Automation

  • Per-channel attenuation set over USB-Serial or Ethernet.
  • Native LANforge automation: drive attenuation curves directly from your test scripts.
  • Scriptable with Python via the LANforge JSON API.
  • Manual control from the LANforge GUI's Attenuator panel.

Typical Use Cases

  • Rate-vs-Range automation — sweep attenuation while measuring throughput.
  • Roaming and handoff testing — scripted attenuation profiles between APs.
  • DFS and chamber-stack setups requiring fine-grained path control.
  • Repeatable Wi-Fi 7 / 6E test scenarios with deterministic RF conditions.

/// Hardware Specifications

  • Max RF power: +34 dBm.
  • Impedance: 50 Ω.
  • Frequency range: 50 MHz – 8.0 GHz.
  • Attenuation range: 0 – 95 dB.
  • Attenuation step: 0.25 dB increments.
  • 8 channels, 16 SMA connectors (one in / one out per channel).
  • Control: USB-Serial or Ethernet (PoE Ethernet supported).
  • Powered via the same USB cable used for management — use a powered hub when running multiple units.
  • No moving parts — fits easily into a small travel bag or briefcase.
  • Should be paired with an RF enclosure to prevent the connected DUTs from bypassing the attenuator over the air.
